The director is responsible for the strategic development and operational execution of Propel’s fuels supply, transport, storage and margin management activities:
• Responsible for the long-term procurement of all fuels and blending components necessary to meet the sales demands of all retail locations
• Negotiate, optimize, and manage relationships with key bulk transport, storage and truck transport carriers for the economic benefit and logistical movement of fuel
• Oversee the daily implementation of sourcing, procurement and transportation of fuels, assuring competitive pricing on all sourcing components through extensive market analysis and benchmarking
• Develop and execute the strategy and capabilities to actively trade around inventories and purchase commitments to enhance profitability
• Establish and manage processes and programs to communicate operational and financial performance, to ensure financial control, business continuity, to protect company assets and comply with corporate and regulatory policies
• Lead and develop team members for superior performance
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of industry experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Math, Science
Must have prior commercial experience in fuel procurement, storage, logistics, and supply strategies, in actively trading commodity motor fuels and risk management with experience in ethanol and biofuels preferred. Experience in marketing fuels a plus.
• Successful experience implementing motor fuel supply management programs
• Strong negotiation skills and track record
• Specific knowledge and trading experience in the conventional fuel and ethanol markets
• Strong knowledge of hedging and risk management tools and strategies that reduce the exposure to volatile price swings
• Superior analytical skills coupled with good general business and financial acumen
• Strong planning and organizational skills and attention to detail
• Able to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with other staff members to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization
• Successful track record of team leadership and staff development
