New for 09: Diesel Passenger Vehicles
Outside of the truck market, diesel vehicle availability in the U.S. has been sparse. That begins to change in 2009 as clean diesels enter the U.S. market. From sedans to luxury utility vehicles, manufacturers will soon offer a better variety of diesel passenger vehicles to U.S. consumers.
And federal tax credits, once the bastion of hybrid owners, now apply to some diesel models. To start, a few Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz diesels now qualify for the Advanced Lean Burn Technology Tax Credit. And new diesel manufactures such as Audi, BMW, Honda and Acura have stated they will soon bring models to the US.
